This cemetery is located 1/8 mile northeast of the Russian Orthodox Church. The land was granted to the Church as part of the original Russian grant. The earliest marked and dated grave is that of Lydia DOLCHOK (d. July 8, 1933) but undoubtedly many of the unmarked graves are of an earlier date. Although the cemetery is primarily for parishioners of the Holy Assumption Church, non-orthodox family members are sometimes buried there with the permission of the church council. The cemetery is under the jurisdiction of the Russian Orthodox Church and is maintained by the parishioners. It is not possible to map the cemetery as present as it follows no discernible pattern. Copses of trees and paths through brushy area confuse whatever pattern was originally planned. Hence the names will be listed in alphabetical order. The old Russian Chapel, which adjoins the church, is a burial memorial for two Russian priests, Egumen NICOLIAS, first priest in Kenai, and Makar IVANOFF, second priest. They are interred under the Chapel.
