Doson more familiary known in this section as "Uncle Sam" Dodson and a pioneer resident of the Lead Belt, died Tuesday morning at 5 o'clock, March 25, 1924, in Barnes hospital in St. Louis, following a surgical operation of the previous Tuesday. He was 68 years of age, March 3rd having been his birthday. Mr. Dodson had developed a cancer on the side of his face. For several years it had given him some trouble, but not enough to cause any great amount of alarm until within recent weeks. He and Mrs. Dodson, went to St. Louis early last week, and he entered Barnes hospital, where he had the operation. It is said he withstood the operation splendidly and had rallied to a remarkable degree for one of his advanced years.
